On the final day of Baby Loss Awareness Week on Saturday 15th October 2022 Ben will be putting his trainers back on for a special one -day event.
He will walk the famous Halifax climb Shibden Wall a total of 50 times. This was part of The Tour De Yorkshire 2017.
Shibden Wall is a real brute of a climb. Half a mile averaging 15% is hard enough, but throw in some tough cobbles, and it makes it a real classic climb. It starts off on tarmac, but the cobbles will soon start.
The Shibden Wall (Lee Lane) is ALL of that at 15% average grade over its 900 meters. This climb is the only cobbled road in Yorkshire of Simon Warren’s 100 Greatest Cycling Climbs.
Ben will be taking this on just over a week before Kallipateira’s 4th Birthday. Every day is difficult, but the month of October brings much more grief, pain and tears so doing this so close to Kallipateira’s birthday is personal.
During the event Ben will be speaking out for all dads whose babies have died.
Ben said ” Every day babies are stillborn that should be alive. These are preventable deaths, and no family should have to suffer this devastation and pain. This is why I will be putting my trainers back on for this one-day event – to speak out for all the babies and families. I will be representing all dads who have experienced the death of a baby. Dads grieve, hurt and cry. They should not have to live in the shadows as this is what society expects.”
Please help Ben raise a fantastic amount with all funds raised helping to save babies lives nationally supporting Professor Alexander Heazell and his teams at The Tommys Rainbow clinic and Maternal and Fetal Health Research Centre in Manchester.
