Baby Loss Awareness Week Challenge 2025
Baby Loss Awareness Week takes place from 9th – 15th October, bringing families together across the UK to remember every baby who has died and to raise awareness of the impact of pregnancy and baby loss.
This year, to mark Baby Loss Awareness Week, Ben Moorhouse will take on a special one-day endurance challenge in memory of his daughter Kallipateira and for every family affected by the death of a baby.
On Saturday 11th October 2025, Ben will face a tough physical day all for love.
Trooper Lane x 26
Ben will take on the notorious cobbled climb of Trooper Lane not once, but 26 times. Known as one of the hardest cobbled climbs in Yorkshire – and possibly the whole of England – Trooper Lane is feared by cyclists and walkers alike.
The number 26 has a deeply personal meaning. On 26th October 2018 , Ben and Gaynor’s daughter Kallipateira was stillborn, just two weeks before her due date. 2025 will mark her 7th birthday.
The Walk to Saint Mary’s Hospital, Manchester
After completing the climbs, Ben will continue his journey with a 30-mile walk from Halifax to Saint Mary’s Hospital in Manchester, via Wainhouse Tower and across Saddleworth Moor.
Saint Mary’s is home to Professor Alexander Heazell and the world-class team at the Tommy’s Rainbow Clinic and Maternal and Fetal Health Research Centre. Their research and care saved the life of Ben and Gaynor’s rainbow baby, Apollon Alexandros Moorhouse, who was born prematurely at 35 weeks in 2020.
Through the work of The Kallipateira Moorhouse Foundation, Ben is committed to supporting Professor Heazell and his team to help save more babies’ lives and to support families living with the heartbreak of baby loss.
Why This Matters
Ben’s challenges are never about personal achievement – they are about love, legacy, and making a difference. He says:
“When I held Kallipateira in my arms, I promised her I would do her proud. I will always be her voice. Every baby deserves a chance at life.”
