Ben Moorhouse Completes One-Day Challenge in Powerful Tribute for Baby Loss Awareness Week
In a heartfelt tribute during Baby Loss Awareness Week 2025, Halifax resident Ben Moorhouse (42) completed a gruelling one-day endurance challenge in memory of his daughter, Kallipateira, who was stillborn at 37 weeks of pregnancy on 26th October 2018.
Ben’s challenge was both a personal journey and a public call to action in support of vital research into the prevention of stillbirth. The physically demanding event was split into two symbolic components:
- Trooper Lane x 26 – From 6am, Ben tackled 26 consecutive climbs of Yorkshire’s steepest cobbled hill, Trooper Lane. The number 26 represents the date of Kallipateira’s stillbirth.
- The Walk to Saint Mary’s – After completing the climbs, Ben embarked on a 30-mile walk from Halifax to Saint Mary’s Hospital in Manchester. His route included passing iconic landmarks such as Wainhouse Tower and the sweeping terrain of Saddleworth Moor, finishing at Saint Mary’s at 7pm.
Ben completed the challenge in just over 13 hours under autumn sunshine, driven by a cause close to his heart.
All funds raised are going directly to Professor Alexander Heazell and his team at the Tommy’s Rainbow Clinic and Maternal and Fetal Health Research Centre at Saint Mary’s Hospital. This pioneering unit saved the life of Ben and his partner Gaynor’s son, Apollon Alexandros, born in May 2020.
So far, the event has raised £850, with hopes of reaching £1,000 to further support life-saving research and reduce preventable stillbirths in the UK.
Ben said:
“October is our most difficult month, with Kallipateira’s 7th birthday coming up and dates we will never forget. I was proud to take on this challenge in remembrance of all babies who have died and for their families. On the day, I had the power of love behind me — and the reason why.”
As part of ongoing support from Calderdale Council, Wainhouse Tower — one of Halifax’s most iconic landmarks — will be lit in pink and blue from 13th to 15th October, honouring every baby who has died and marking Baby Loss Awareness Week.
Through The Kallipateira Moorhouse Foundation, Ben continues to campaign tirelessly for better awareness, family support, and crucial research to prevent future tragedies.
